April 2017 Letter
As we move from “March Madness” and the end of the college basketball season to the bright sunshine of spring’s baseball games, we would like to share a quote about the importance of building relationships to achieve success:
"Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision. The ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organizational objectives. It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results." --Andrew Carnegie
While teamwork and the ability to play together are critical elements to achieve success, teams are also implementing new technologies to develop, monitor, and improve player performance and to enhance the fan experience. Here are a few examples:
• Game plans via videos and interactive graphics are being sent to players after practice
• Paper pictures have given way to iPad views on NFL sidelines
• Game data and statistics are being streamed in real time
• Wearable devices are being utilized to monitor athletes’ health and performance levels
As “old school” philosophies combine with “new wave” technologies, changes are being driven by the improvement in wireless transmission, allowing for faster communication in texts, graphics, videos, etc.
Our article, titled “5G” or Fifth Generation explores the evolution from 1G to 5G on mobile devices. This progress from basic voice service to true mobile broadband now allow us to view real-time events on our smart phones or tablets.
We hope you enjoy, and even learn a thing or two. Let us know if you have any comments or questions about the topic.
