Fixed Income Investing

The fixed income portion of our clients' portfolios is designed to generate stable income, predictable returns, and capital preservation.  Our fixed income style focuses on bonds with short and intermediate maturities of investment grade quality with diversification across maturities and issue types.  Covington uses fixed income securities to balance the higher risks of equity securities, dampen a portfolio’s overall volatility, and produce a stable stream of income.

Covington’s investment professionals construct fixed income portfolios by selecting from among U.S. Government and municipal bonds, corporate bonds, and convertibles.  We employ active management with attention to yield spreads, maturities, and tax considerations.  Special attention is paid to call structure, credit quality, marketability, and diversification.
