Louis P. Abel, CFA, CAIA and Thomas M. Giddings join Covington Capital Management
Mr. Louis Abel joins Covington as Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager with over 30 years of experience in the investment management industry.
Previously, he served as Chief Investment Officer at First Foundation Advisors. Additionally, Lou chaired the Alternative Investments Sub-Committee overseeing the sourcing, research, and due diligence process. His particular interests include ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) and social impact investing.
Lou received an MBA in International Finance, graduating with honors from the University of California, Los Angeles and also attended the executive program in investment management at Stanford University. He graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. Lou is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder and a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA).
Lou is a member of the CFA Society of Los Angeles, the CFA Institute, and the CAIA Association. He is an Ambassador for Professional Child Development Associates and was previous Finance Chair for the Pacific Asia Museum.
Mr. Thomas Giddings joins Covington as Senior Vice President and Senior Relationship Manager with over 30 years of experience.
Previously, Tom served as a Senior Managing Director and Head of Sales and Relationship Management at First Foundation Advisors. Tom worked closely with high net worth individuals and families across the United States. Tom and his team had responsibility for over $800 million in assets under management. He focused on sales, client relationship management, strategic planning, recruiting, marketing, and branding while at First Foundation. Prior to First Foundation, Tom was Managing Director at Lehman Brothers in Newport Beach and U.S. Trust Company, where he led the Costa Mesa office. Tom also served on TD Ameritrade's National Advisory Council from 2016 - 2019.
Tom Graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor of Science in Finance. He also attended the executive program in investment management at Stanford University.
Tom is a Board Member of Mission Hospital Foundation and a past board Member of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and Serving People in Need.
